Home Living : August 5th 2008
HLN - HOME LIVING: NORTH, Tuesday, August 5, 2008 1 HOMELIVING Sleeping figures by PAULINE PRIEST Sleeping figures Some of us need more sleep than others and while sleep is as important to the human body as eating and drinking, many of us don't get enough of it. There is more to a good night's sleep than a comfy bed. Pillows, sheets, blankets, doonas and comforters, design and colour must also be considered. Different age groups have different sleep patterns. Teenagers seem to need as much sleep as small children (about 10 hours), people over the age of 65 need the least (about six hours). For the average adult aged 25 to 55, eight hours is usually enough. Some studies suggest women need up to an hour's extra sleep a night compared with men. ............................................
