FLEXO Magazine : August 2008
INDUSTRY INDICATORS Narrow In On Labelexpo L abelexpo Americas, taking place Sept. 9 -11 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, will offer a host of fea- tures for flexo label printers/converters. Attendance is forecasted at 13,000+ and exhibitors number more than 400. The North American label market has always been strong for flexography, according to Mike Fairley, resident label guru for Tarsus plc (see page 30), who will construct a cur- rent demographic profile at the event. New features and formats, to be introduced at the three-day show, will reflect the lat- est developments in the industry, and at the same time satisfy demands voiced by Labelexpo visitors of the past. The Smart Label Zone is enlarged this year to gather the best examples of smart labels and the RFID technology suppliers. Here visitors will be able to see the emerg- ing national and international trends in the RFID technology, anti-counterfeiting, brand protection and time/temperature indicators. Gather on the Green, a sustainability- oriented pavilion, was created to satisfy the requests from past shows’ visitors to see the latest developments in green technology. In addition, the labeling industry is fully aware that it needs to stay abreast with all the changes in the legislation and, for this rea- son, the new Gather on the Green Pavilion has gathered suppliers who will demon- strate original materials they developed that help reduce the impact on the environment. Labelexpo Americas 2008 will have a high-level conference, organized in col- laboration with TLMI, that will look at the current trends in both local and global markets. Among the expected highlights: potential growth and development, security and brand protection, environmental issues and relevant legislation, managing in an uncertain economy, latest trends in tech- nologies, and the pressroom of the future. Below is a selection of program sessions that should be of high interest to many flexo label printers: TUESDAY, SEPT. 9 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.Opportunities and challenges in the North American label markets ?
