TECHNOLOGIES & TECHNIQUES Global Label Market Growth Rates, 2007 Source: AWA Global Pressure-sensitive Label Market & Technology Review, 2008 AWA Global Sleeve Label Market & Technology Review, 2007 AWA Global IML Label Market & Technology Review, 2008 Source: AWA Global Pressure-sensitive Label Market & Technology Review, 2008 Today gearless-shaftless-sleeve presses have all the technology needed to process the IML label IN A SINGLE PASS thanks to the integration of an in-line rotary die- cutting system, which is complemented by a unit that delivers the finished label. This method has obvious advan- tages, particularly where short runs are concerned. First of all, it allows production of the finished product in a single pass, thereby avoiding the crossover costs and times that are incurred when using the other methods. Be aware, however, that this is not always possible to die cut in-line, sometimes for technical reasons, other times for economic reasons. On the tech- nical side, the limit can be the need to use thin materials, below 2 mil, that make label stacking and delivery difficult if the operation is carried out in-line. Another limitation could be the complex design of the label, which can also influence the ease with which the line can operate. That is why having multiple finishing solutions at the end of your gearless-shaftless-sleeve flexo press allows you to tailor your pro- duction to each job’s requirements. Teaming up with a press supplier with proven mid-web gearless-shaftless-sleeve technologies and multiple finishing so- lutions that can be customized to meet your specific production requirements enables label printers to compete and win in the growing IML market. ?
