FLEXO Magazine : August 2014
combining the benchmark E2C low energy UV lamphead with RHI- NO for the most energy efficient UV solution. Goss International (Booth 1824) will illustrate how flexible configura- tions featuring Sunday Vpak press technology can deliver a compelling proposition for high quality label and flexible packaging applications. Goss Vpak 500 and Vpak 3000 web offset press models for folding carton, flexible packaging, preprint and label applications are available in web widths from 20.5-in. to 75-in. and print at speeds of up to 1,500 fpm. Key features include quick change sleeve adapter technology for efficient, cost effective size changes and flexo coating unit. GSE Dispensing (Booth 558) presents its automated, lean ink man- agement solution specifically engineered for small ink batches. The Colorsat Switch ensures a fast, precise and waste free means of achiev- ing spot color on demand. Automated gravimetric ink dispensing systems, like the Colorsat Switch, eliminate production bottlenecks and provide converters with fast, accurate, repeatable color. The Col- orsat Switch is engineered to dispense water, UV or solvent based ink batches into 1.3 gallon buckets with a typical four component recipe of 11-lbs. produced in less than four minutes and to 0.01-lb. accuracy. It has a modular design that has a capacity of 20 base inks of 55-lbs., or can optionally be connected to 55-g. or 275-g. totes. Harper Corporation of America6 (Booth 401) will be launching the newest addition to its QD Multi-Process Flatbed Printing System, the QD Flexo Printing Head. This flexo printing head prints a 6.66-in. repeat using Harper’s standard proofer anilox rolls. It uses a tradition- al imaged flexo plate coupled with mounting tape to a plate cylinder, or the printing head can be used with Harper’s fiber laser engraved ITR (in the round) EDPM transfer roll. The ITR transfer roll is ideal for functional printing projects with solvent or toluene based inks to eliminate the concern of plate lift due to frequent cleanings. The QD now has the capability of multiple passes of trapped images due to its pin type zero reference starting point. This allows the poten- tial for multiple passes of functional inks. The expanded QD system simulates flexo and gravure full coverage printing and with laser imaged engraved cylinders offset and gravure printing. K Laser Technology16 (Booth 6530) will feature its new metal effects and true seamless holographic cold foils that provide fresh new ho- lographic patterns that greatly enhance labels and packaging. They are available in rainbow and pillars of light holographic patterns.
