FLEXO Magazine : August 2014
+ W) with top coating and fully integrated inline modules including flexographic printing, various converting options, cold foil, screen and more. This flexible solution allows the option to reconfigure the press as business needs change, giving converters the opportunity to update and upgrade the equipment as required. Mark Andy Digital Series evolves with the converter. Martin Automatic (Booth 811) will showcase its automatic roll change technology, including running demonstrations of the full featured MBS splicer and LRD rewinder. Label printers and convert- ers will have hands on opportunities to see how non stop splicing and rewinding helps them get the job done faster, with less waste and higher profits. MCS (Booth 6546) will be showcasing the Eagle UV inkjet system. This system is designed for flexographic and web printers. System features include 4.5 -in. or 8.5 -in. print heads that can be combined for a total width up to 25-in., 600 dpi, up to 333 fpm, 2,550 nozzles per print head and adjustable drop sizes of 6, 7, 11 and 14 pl as well as oversized drop capability. It takes less than five minutes to set up. Muller Martini (Booth 1344) is showcasing its VSOP (variable sleeve offset printing) web press technology with a pneumatically powered VSOP print tower, as well as its mid and narrow web offset presses— the Alprinta and Concepta—that offer impressive versatility, as well as various processing and finishing modules. Nilpeter (Booth 3105/3205) will present innovative solutions for smarter presses that reduce time between processes and waste without compromise to quality. Nilpeter's FB-3 flexo press is one of the fastest label presses on the market. The 8-color, 13-in. press offers the highest level of servo auto- mation in its class. This allows the expanded gamut process to seamlessly integrate into the flexo workflow, reducing spot color variations and all the waste generated from mixing color on press. With the high level of servo automation on the FB-3, all print settings can be saved run to run. Nilpeter’s FA-4*, an 8-color, 16- in. press, achieves sellable labels without any manual adjust- ments at job setup. An 8-color job change, including change of die, leaves as little as 66-ft. to 82-ft . of waste. A combination of the revolutionary one frame unit steel construction, seven HD servo motors per printing unit, four individual tension zones, auto synchronized roller train and fixed web path between the units provides maximum precision. Novation14 (Booth 642) will be demonstrating the ScrapTracker system. ScrapTracker creates a data file or “roll map” associated with each roll of material manufactured, processed or printed. The data file contains all the information about the locations and types of defects within the roll. Reports on total amounts of scrap, scrap by machine, shift, month, etc. can be generated. Nuova GIDUE (Booth 5721/5722) will introduce its “Digital Flexo Excellence” concept in the new REVO technology. This latest innova- tion is a system of technologies developed to digitize and automate the workflow, setup and run of a UV flexographic press. Process consis- tency, efficiency and cost reduction are the objectives of REVO, to win the labels and packaging challenge for short runs, global quality and total flexibility. On the GIDUE printing and converting sections, servo motors and digital HD cameras substitute the eyes and fingers of the operator with digital eyes and digital fingers. The new EXCELLENCE genera- tion presses exchange the print and die cutting cylinders from “old” to “new” automatically, without operator. Setup and production opera- tions are digitally controlled, with very limited intervention. The wide 17-in. M5 GIDUE UV flexo press on demonstration will show all aspects of the Excellence Technology: ExcelPrint, ExcelDie and ExcelCut for the automatic, non stop exchange of print cylinders, magnetic and flexible dies. OMET (Booth 3123) celebrates its 13th ongoing participation in Labelexpo Americas with the kickoff of a new project, the XFlex X4 in width of 17-in. XFlex X4 is the entry level OMET press, including its Vision register control system, twin servo motors on each printing 54 FLEXO | AUGUST 2014 Photo courtesy of Labelexpo Americas
