PLANTS & PROCESSES 2014 FTA Sustainability Excellence Award Winners Accredo Packaging & Avery Dennison Conserve Energy, Trim Waste, Promote Recyclability, Reduce Emissions One printer, one product, two journeys—each focusing on people, planet and profit—took all accolades in Flexographic Technical Association’s newly minted 2014 Sustainability Excellence Awards competition. By name, this year’s honorees, and their respective categories of recog- nition, are: • Accredo Packaging of Sugar Land, TX in the Sustainabili- ty Programs category • Avery Dennison of Mentor, OH in the Innovations in Sus- tainability category “ T he FTA Sustainability Excellence Award program clearly illustrates that flexographic printers and suppliers have integrated environmentally conscious manufacturing meth- ods into the very core of their businesses,” commented Judge Marygrace Quigley of Label Technology in Merced, CA. A similar assessment was offered by Judge Dolores Corcor- an, productivity system manager at Lauterbach Group, Inc. in Sussex, WI. “It was an honor to be selected as a judge and to participate in the FTA Sustainability Excellence Awards,” she said. “A ll the candidates deserve recognition for their ongoing efforts in aligning with forward thinking innovations that drive sustainable practices into process management and product life cycles.
